Our story
Gear Relay was founded with a simple goal: make professional AV rentals faster, fairer, and more local. The idea started in San Antonio, where too many productions struggled with either overpriced rental houses or scattered small providers. We saw an opportunity to bring those pieces together into one platform that worked for both sides of the industry.
Independent techs and small shops already own the gear, maintain it, and know how to use it. What was missing was a central hub that connected them with event planners, producers, and companies who needed reliable equipment. Gear Relay bridges that gap by turning local expertise into accessible rentals, without the overhead of a traditional warehouse.
Today, Gear Relay operates as a streamlined marketplace where renters can browse city-specific gear, request quotes, and finalize bookings—all while technicians stay in control of their inventory. Payments, deposits, and insurance requirements are managed in one place, creating a smoother process for everyone involved. What began in San Antonio is scaling into a national network built on trust, efficiency, and community.
